Locksmith in East St. Paul and West St. Paul
We cover both St. Pauls, on either side of the Red River just north of Winnipeg, around the clock: lockouts, possession-day rekeys, car keys and garage doors, with the price approved before we start.
How do you get to East and West St. Paul?
Both St. Pauls sit just past the north Perimeter, so they are among our shorter drives out of Winnipeg. The exact time still depends on where our technician is when you call, so we tell you on the phone rather than guess here.

West St. Paul is one of the fastest-growing places in Canada
West St. Paul grew from 5,368 people in 2016 to 6,682 in 2021, about 24 per cent, which put it tenth for growth among Canadian municipalities. New phases keep coming: a 2025 hearing covered 175 more lots in Parkview Pointe. A brand-new house in Middlechurch has been through the builder, the trades and sometimes a show-home season, and every one of them had a key.
East St. Paul is bigger and more settled
East St. Paul had 9,725 people in 2021, growing far more slowly than its neighbour, and most homes there are established houses rather than fresh builds. A proposal for 760 lots on the former Meadows golf course beside Highway 59 would change that if it goes ahead. Until then, the typical call here is an older lock that has started to stick, or a garage door on a house that has had the same opener for years.
The Red River is the line between them
The old St. Paul municipality was split in 1915, with the Red River as the boundary: Middlechurch and Rivercrest on the west bank, East St. Paul and Birds Hill on the east. Tell us which side you are on, because the crossing decides the route.
Lockouts on both sides of the river
Locked out of a house in Rivercrest, or a car on a driveway in Birds Hill? The first step is the same: call or text, tell us the street and which side of the Red River you are on, and we tell you when we can get there. Our locked out page has the short checklist, including when to call 911 first because a child or pet is inside.
Most St. Paul homes have attached garages, so check the keypad and the side door before you call: sometimes there is a way in we can talk you through for free.
Possession-day rekeys in the new subdivisions
West St. Paul's new streets are where the possession-day rekey earns its keep: the builder, the trades and the realtor's lockbox have all held a key. Rekeying your locks changes the pins inside the locks you already have, so the new hardware stays and the old keys stop working. In East St. Paul's older homes the same job is about keys handed to dog walkers, cleaners and past tenants over the years.
Car keys, fobs and garage doors
Commuters from both St. Pauls drive into Winnipeg every day, and a lost key often turns up as a problem in a downtown parkade with the spare sitting at home. We cut and program car keys and fobs where the car is, for most makes. Back home, a snapped spring, a frayed cable or an opener that has quit is a garage door repair call we take any hour.
Questions from East and West St. Paul
- Do you cover both East and West St. Paul?
- Yes, both, at any hour. Tell us whether you are on the Middlechurch side or the Birds Hill side of the Red River, and the street, and we tell you on the phone when we can be there.
- We just took possession of a new house in West St. Paul. Should we rekey?
- We would. Builders, trades and sometimes show-home visitors have had keys to a new house. A rekey makes those keys useless and can put every door, including the door from the garage, on one new key.
- Can you fix a garage door in East St. Paul on a weekend?
- Yes. Garage door repair runs around the clock, weekends included. If a spring has snapped, leave the door down and do not try to lift it by hand; call us and we tell you what we see from a photo.
