Card and fob access control in Winnipeg
Access control replaces keys with cards, fobs or codes, so you decide who opens which door and when, and a lost card is switched off instead of the lock being rekeyed. Every project starts with a site visit.

What is an access control system?
An access control system unlocks doors with a card, fob, code or phone instead of a key. Each user gets their own credential, you choose which doors and hours it works for, and a lost credential is deleted rather than rekeying the lock. Most systems also keep a record of which credential opened which door and when.
Cards and fobs instead of keys
With access control, nobody carries a key that could be copied. Each person gets a card, fob or code. You decide which doors it opens and at what times. When someone leaves or loses their card, you delete that one credential, and every door is secure again with no rekeying.
What a project involves
- Site visit. We walk every door you want controlled, look at the frames and existing hardware, and ask how people actually use the building.
- Written scope. Which doors, which hardware, how many users, how it's managed day to day, and what happens in a power cut. You get the scope and the price before any work starts.
- Install and handover. We fit the readers and door hardware, set up your users, and show whoever manages the system how to add and remove people.
Exits, safety and code
Controlled doors still have to let people out. We plan the hardware on every exit door so leaving the building is never harder than entering it, and we check each door's requirements before we quote.
When a master key is enough
For a small office with a handful of trusted people, a master key system with restricted keys may do the job for less. We'll tell you honestly which fits. Both are part of our commercial locksmith work, and property managers can set up an account on the landlords page.
You get the full scope and price before any install: see our price promise. We work across the city and in the towns on our areas page.

Questions people ask
- How many doors make access control worth it?
- It's less about doors than people. If keys change hands often, staff turn over, or you need to know who came in after hours, access control usually pays for itself sooner than repeated rekeys.
- Can it work with our existing doors?
- Often, yes. Most doors can take an electric strike or other electrified hardware. The site visit tells us what each door needs.
- What happens in a power cut?
- That depends on the hardware chosen for each door and the backup power you want. We plan it with you so exits stay safe and entry stays secure.
- Can you add access control to a shared building entrance?
- Yes, with the building owner's or condo board's agreement. Property managers can set this up through the landlords page.
